The easiest thing in the world is to sell a dream. At one time in the far-off past I was included in the vacation trade and all I needed to do was to push certain buttons within my customers and they would do all the work for me.
Often times I would sit and listen to an other half telling the spouse, or vice versa, why it was such a great concept to XYZ. When that happened, I knew my job was done – it was just a question of time before I was handed a look for the purchase.
There’s lots of books out there that will certainly sell you the dream of living in Thailand. Some are excellent, some are good – and far too numerous are patently absurd in their claims. They appeal to the dreamer – however here’s the issue. Mention fact to a daydreamer and you can ensure something – an emotional response. Every dreamer hates truth disrupting their fantasy. When their bubble is burst, these are the individuals that crash and burn.
I wager you are not that type of individual. I bet you are the type of individual that will certainly look at the negatives and build them into your threat evaluation. You’ve worked too tough and too long to see yourself crash and burn simply at the time of life when you must be enjoying the rewards.
Let me tell you about fantasists and idiots. These are the type of individuals that believe there is some sort of company keeping analytical tabs on the happiness index of retirees to Thailand. These are the kind of individuals that think it’s clever to compare Thailand to other South East Asia nations, and laughably – China. These are the kind of individuals that make dumb claims such as “you require cash to retire anywhere.” Truly? You do not say.
Let me inform you something before you even download the book. There is no Thai government company caring for the welfare of senior citizens. No one is keeping tabs on their “happiness index.” No one cares. You are on your own – and when you show up at your Embassy looking for assistance – you’ll get a shock, a big shock.
And when it comes to comparing Thailand to other South East Asian countries – this book is particular to Thailand for a factor. No other country in the region resembles Thailand’s vast expat population. No other nation in the region has anything like the amount of retired people that you discover in Thailand. There’s a total of twenty-three thousand foreign retired people in Malaysia – I lay you short probabilities there’s more than that in Chiang Mai alone. I’m even prepared to bet there’s more foreign retired people in Chiang Mai than there remain in all China.
So let’s get it directly. The book is called – “Why You Shouldn’t Retire To Thailand,” not “Why You Shouldn’t Retire To Thailand And Here’s What It’s Like In China, Vietnam, blah blah.” The book is about Thailand – everything else is redundant.
As for the ridiculous “you require cash to retire anywhere,” statements. Guy, how about that for a statement of the obvious? The issue is that there is a market afoot in Thailand attempting to convince people to retire to the country on laughably small amounts of money. Those days have actually gone.
This book is for the pragmatist. This book is for you and it only has one purpose. That purpose is to discuss concerns that influence retirees in Thailand as told to me by individuals who are – senior citizens in Thailand. They mention things that they overlooked before they made their retirement step. They desire to make sure that you don’t ignore them too. I would state that’s an excellent thing – I’m sure you would agree.
In the book I bring forth many issues varying from financial, to health, seclusion and more. And even if you do decide to retire to Thailand, have a backstop in location to cover the concerns talked about.
This book is for individuals who wish to have an enjoyable retirement. Add it to your research study.
